Have you heard the figure for this Afghanistan effort?   In addition to the $30,000,000,000.00 to get those 30,000 troops over there at $1,000,000.00 per trooper, the effort is going to cost us $100,000,000,000.00 per year!  You know what I always say: If you’re going to go, go BIG!

George’s Hobby war in Iraq and the hunt for Osama in Afghanistan has cost us just $1,000,000,000,000.00 to date.  It’s a damned good thing we didn’t get involved in nation building, by George!

Hey, I’ve got an idea.  Let’s spend that money on buying poppies from the afghan farmers and using them to produce medical drugs here in the U. S. of A.?  I’ve heard we have a shortage of medical drugs derived from poppies and this would go a long way toward filling that deficit.  We currently buy our opium from the Turks, but they cannot supply 100% of our needs.  Subsidizing the poppy industry in Afghanistan would deny the Taliban and Al Queada the leverage from that trade and replace it with our American leverage.  It’s a sure thing that they cannot outbid America, and we could deliver a decisive blow without losing American lives.

The $30,000,000,000.00 could be used to bring 30,000 troops home under the umbrella of lucrative economic gain for the Afghan people.  And the $100,000,000,000.00 per year would be a powerful incentive for the people to keep the Taliban and others in line, if not out of the country.

Wow.  I like it.  A Poppy umbrella for our troop withdrawal.
