First the deadliest day of the war was Wed. with over 200 Iraqis killed. This is also the worst 6 month stretch for US losses.
2nd, Bush met with Pelosi and Reid, and Reid pointed out that Bush has lost Iraq, told it to his face, and the Democratic House and Senate would not take out the timetable for withdrawl. They also have the votes to keep the timelines in the emergency funding bill.
3rd, then Reid publicly stated that Bush has lost Iraq.
4th, from Al-Quds Al Arabi ***
Consider this analysis gleaned from the writings of bin Laden expert Abdel Bar Atwan, editor in chief of Al-Quds Al Arabi, a London-based daily newspaper:
According to Atwan's analysis of al-Qaida's "20-year plan," the organization aimed to bring about the fall of the American empire by first provoking -- with the September 11 attacks -- Washington into irrationally invading Muslim lands in pursuit of revenge. Al-Qaida's grand strategists calculated that the invasion would propel the umma, the Muslim community, into joining the jihad. Following the fall of the secular socialist Hussein regime, Iraq has indeed become a training ground for limitless waves of foreign jihadis.
***I lifted this (4) from Daily Kos
So after 9-11, when the CIA and the NSA went to the President with the admonition that we were playing checkers, while the terrorists were playing chess, Bush and Cheney decided to ignore all the strategic interests, and throw out the checker board and go straight to playing tiddly winks. "Checkers is hard work, gotta think about jumps."
Retards shouldn't be allowed to be Commander in Chief.

I read a summary of the Atwan analysis just a few minutes before you posted this article. Amazing. Bush fell right into Bin Laden's trap. Bush has put this country at great risk for years and years to come.
